We keep getting our eggs stolen. This time three dozen. It is too much work and expense for people just to take them.
There was a deer at our Boles Aero trailer later that morning though.
This morning Tom repaired a tiny hole in the fence that Ryeleigh managed to get out of while I did the animal chores. Tom worked on the ancient plumbing in our house while I picked plums and attempted to battle the weeds in the garden. The weeds grew while were on our trip and then I hadn’t been able to weed due to my hand injuries.
We came in for lunch, and I had a salad made from our garden (like every day). We are intermittently getting our newspaper, the Skagit Valley Herald. They stopped delivery service as no one is willing to deliver it for the tiny amount of money they pay for the route. So now we are attempting to get it mailed to our P.O. Box. It has been hit and miss, but we did get yesterday’s. And I was rewarded with this cartoon. We enjoy reading the paper with our lunch.
In the afternoon I tried to sleep off a night shift at the hospital while Tom worked on my old motorcycle (are you noticing a theme called old?). He was able to wrestle the exhaust off to get the back tire off. In the process he managed to break a muffler clamp. It can be tricky getting parts for a 1975 Honda CB550.
After I got up from my nap, he showed me the differences between the old and new tires. I will be thankful for the tread.
While he was trying to get the back tire off and went to get a tool from the garage, he noticed a large bird in the driveway. He initially thought it was our peacock but then soon realized it was an immature bald eagle.
It may be a fledgling from the nest out back. Steve didn’t notice it, but Ryeleigh did and manage to scare it away.
Pretty exciting farm news, huh?
We are also watching the Schneider Springs Fire, somewhat near my mother’s family cabin. It is anxiety provoking.
We are having our pork chops with our peaches for a farm dinner tonight. Ryeleigh is currently stretched out as much as a beagle can next to me on the couch, after a long day of escaping and chasing eagles.
I am hoping to finally watch Summer of Soul on Hulu tonight, but there is also the fire update at 6:30. And tomorrow morning we are going to the Skagit County Fair!

It does take nerve. It was 2:30 in the morning so we were not awake to retaliate. And our guard dog Steve was sleeping with us. But there are a lot of desperate people around here now. That sounds like great fun, touring around on your Honda in southern California in the 1970s.
gah! so sorry to hear that the egg thievery continues. 🙁 Glad Ryeleigh is up and about again, though. Here’s hoping she doesn’t discover another escape route!

Thieves are disgusting! Would it be possible to lock your egg shed? I know you have mentioned it before. I hope Ryeleigh stops getting out and trying to run off. Tell her I said it’s too dangerous!

They are. We can start locking the egg fridge again at night. The prior thief was in the daytime though. I have told Ryeleigh that. She just gets too excited when she is on a event. Hopefully we have the last hole patched up. I am glad you liked the cartoon. It made me laugh out loud. I have ridden it in several years. I really want to this summer before it’s over. Tom is still working on it.
I want a picture or two of you riding your Honda!! I’ve never ridden a motorcycle. I’m sure it’s fun.
Sounds good. Hopefully it happens. I have riding a motorcycle since I was around 8 and before that my father would give me rides on them.
