Boles Trip

We headed to the mountains to our vintage trailer fro a few days.  This is how it looked when we got there.  It was foggy, but the sun was trying to show through.

The next day the fog cleared and you could see the valley beyond Steve.

It was very windy though, as I tried to capture in these two videos.

Then it was snowing sideways.

I did take Ryeleigh on walks between the blizzards.

In the afternoon, a couple of bucks walked by.

In the evening we watched broadcast television which is interesting.  This was a cooking show by a Chilean woman.

While we were there, Tom worked on burning up some of the dead wood piles left from the fire to diminish chances for more fires in the summer months.

I kept taking Ryeleigh on very cold walks.

Here are Tom and Steve heading back down to check on the fire.

This photo shows how well Steve is camouflaged in this environment.  He had found a deer bone and was enjoying it.

He left it, and Ryeleigh took over.

It turns out that Ryeleigh loves to roll in drifted snow in the ditches.

She got quite tired.  Here she is sleeping with her ears splayed out on laps.

Friday evening we had a nice spaghetti and meatballs dinner which was really yummy.

We came home today.  The forecast wasn’t good initially, but the pass wasn’t too bad.

When we got home, I had received a new (to me) replacement crock-pot heating element.

img_5545

Mine had started making electrical burning odors when used.  I have had it since I was a teenager and didn’t want to buy a new one as the crock insert was fine.  So Ebay came to the rescue, and now I have a functioning crock-pot again!

In sad news, Big Red died while we were gone.  Not sure what happened to him.  He will be missed.

I’m very sorry about Big Red’s death. Sometimes these things happen, don’t they?

I’m glad you had a good time at your trailer. It’s fun to know that Ryeleigh likes to play in the snow.

Lucky you, getting your crock pot repaired.

Thanks Jeanne! I liked Big Red a lot. Now we have Big Orange. Oh well. Ryeleigh is such a cold weather wimp, I didn’t think she would like the snow. But she had a blast. I couldn’t;t see throwing out a perfectly good stoneware insert, but I also do not want the house to burn down. It looks like we have a winner!

I looked at your pictures in this blog again and finally enlarged a couple of them so i was able to see Steve and the bone, and also Tom riding off to check on the fires. If I had used my old laptop instead this small tablet, I’d be able to see things better!!

It is hard to see much on tablets and phones sometimes. But I kind of liked the wider views in the photos. It gave a better sense of the environment we were in.
