Picking Up a Bull

We drove to Enumclaw today to pick up a bull we purchased via an online auction.  Mount Rainier was really impressive.  The photos do not do it justice.

Then we arrived at the auction site.  This is a first for us, buying an animal at an auction.  But I wasn’t having any luck otherwise.  Cattle prices seem to have increased.

Then it was our turn to load up.  I stayed in the truck while they loaded him.  You can see him in the side mirror.  This is my first glimpse of him.

My next view was opening the door of the trailer when we got home.

He is smaller than I thought, but he is only 17 months old.

He quickly found the cows.

And vice versa.

Here is Marji and him meeting.

Sonja freaked out and jumped a fence to get away from him, although he was nowhere near her.  Thankfully she did not hurt herself.

It is all seeming to work out.  He came without a name so we decided to call him Rory.  Welcome to our farm, Rory!!!

This process has made me remember the previous bulls we have had.

This is Titan, our Dexter bull from 2012.

This is Gumby, our Highland bull from 2014

This is Rowdy, our Highland bull from 2015.

And Tormund, our Highland bull from 2018.

P.S,  The other possible names were Ted Lasso, Conan, and Bronn.  Hopefully we picked the right one to inspire him.
