I managed to somehow hurt my back at work. After my shift on the eighth I improved after a couple of days, but since the shift on the fourteenth I haven’t. It is very painful to walk, and I have been using a cane to try to help.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, I tried to help with the chores but each day gave up when the pain worsened. I did manage to get these pictures.

But the other big news is that a cat showed up in the back of our property Thursday night. It has been hanging out by our game camera so we’ve been getting a lot of videos of it.
Friday afternoon it appears to have gotten a rodent.
Here’s a nice view of it.
On Monday morning, with the cane I carefully walked out there and placed some wet cat food out that Wally won’t eat. Later I could see the cat eating it.
Unfortunately that night we had a raccoon sniffing at it, but I suspect it was already eaten.
I was good the rest of Monday, took it easy and visited my doctor. One of the fish, William’s goldfish named Calvstena, seemed to have swim bladder issues. I fed it some mashed peas but then thought I should do a Epsom salt bath. Here it is in the bath.

Rose, Piper’s goldfish, had been hiding, but I did get a glimpse of it.

Yesterday I was good and resting. Tom has been doing all of the chores including feeding the new cat. He is calling it Roscoe.
Last evening we were hit with the forecasted bomb cyclone. This is Tom coming home around 5:00 when the winds were starting to blow.
We hunkered down in the house. We did hear a piece of metal crashing but thought it was a loose piece leftover from the trailer roof construction. The power went out at 10:00 PM, and we went to bed listening to the wind howl.
Roscoe seemed to be doing OK in it just after midnight.
This morning the power is still out. Our neighbor reported that a transformer had blown up near their house with a big explosion.

Tom pulled the camper van into the driveway and heated some water for coffee in there.

He checked on the critters, and they are fine. But he surveyed the damage to the trailer which includes a downed tree, missing roof panel and missing wall panel.

I ventured outside to get photos of the leaning windmill and the leaking generator.

Tom went out to purchase new gas lines for the generator, gas for the generator, and propane canisters so we can cook. And he surveyed the local damage. Here are the 2 power poles by our neighbor with the lines pulled down.
Thankfully Roscoe seems fine this morning. Wish us luck.

Nothing like camping out in the winter. Something seems to always be keeping you busy. Glad you are self reliant and able.
Thanks
You are a goldfish whisperer as well. Is there anything you can’t do? Woman , you are worth your weight in gold!!!!
I am not sure that I am a goldfish whisperer. Piper’s fish died and I am trying to save this one. But thanks!
