My Back, A New Computer, Nasty Jack’s, Fish and Chips and my Uncle

We did get our power back on the afternoon after the Bomb.  Below are the items I needed to use to make coffee that long day.  Our neighbors to the west, however, did not get their power back so I felt bad for them.  I do apologize for the poor video links on my last post.  I made it with my iPhone and cell service so it was a challenge.

This is the amount of rain we got.  Pretty impressive.

My back is improving however, thanks to my chiropractor.  And I was able to work.  It still hurts but not nearly as bad.  And today I was finally able to help with the chores again.

In other news, I recruited Tom to help me pick up my new computer.  It is tiny and inside this bag at the Apple Store in Lynnwood.  I needed Tom because we hauled my old computer in for recycling, and it is heavy.  My back wouldn’t tolerate it.

After Lynnwood, we headed to La Conner.  I wanted to make a final visit to Nasty Jack’s Antiques.  This was a favorite store of mine.  I bought this furniture from them.

Unfortunately the store is not what it used to be.  But here are photos of its history.

We then went to Tunnies for fish and chips.  This is Tom ordering it.  I had wanted to go there because of the reviews stating that they have great fish and chips.  I don’t think the regulars were working, and it was a long wait for our food.  It was good, but the wait in the cold weather soured us on the experience, unfortunately.

The biggest and saddest news of the day, though, is that my uncle died.  Rest in Peace, Jim.  Here’s a photo of him from 1960.  He is on the left.  He will be missed.

I’m glad you weren’t without power any longer. It looks like quite a deal to make coffee. Since I don’t drink coffee, I didn’t have that problem. Our power wasn’t out as long as yours, and thankfully it was back on before bedtime, so I could warm up my bed with my electric blanket..

I’m sorry about the loss of your uncle. It’s rough, isn’t it?

Is your new computer a MacBook Pro? I have a MacBook Air, and I really like it. I’ve been a Mac user since the get-go.

I’m glad your back is getting better!

I am glad that we were not out longer too. It reminded us how to be better prepared though. It is rough losing my uncle. I am starting to lose the generation above me, my aunt and now my uncle. I bought a Mac mini. It is cute and powerful. But, of course, my old monitor won’t work with it so I have been shopping for a new monitor before I can use it. I have been a Mac user since the 1990s. My back is getting better but not great. I am trying to be careful to not make things worse again.

glad to hear that your back is improving. it’s got to be frustrating to be frustrating to have it limiting your activity! We fired up the generator first thing on Wed morning to get our coffee going! I love the picture of your family from1960. RIP Uncle Jim.
