Tom and I went to see the band X last night.  If you are not a fan of punk music, I would suggest you skip this post.

I have twice previously bought tickets but failed to see them.  Once was in Seattle, and we made it to the venue but at 9:00 the opening band hadn’t started, and I needed to work the next morning so we left.  Then in the pandemic I bought tickets to see them with Los Lobos and The Blasters in LA.  But then I thought it wasn’t a good idea at that time to fly to LA so didn’t go.

So yesterday we drove down in a wind and rain storm.  I knit on the way.

I also played X music from my phone as Tom is not as familiar with it as I am.

We checked into our room at the Elks Temple in Tacoma.  We got the Krist Novoselic room.

We made our way to the Spanish Ballroom and saw them set out the play lists.  I was able to get a photo and turn it upside down on my phone to sort of be able to read it.

Then Billy Zoom came out.

The rest of the band came out (Exene Cervenka, John Doe, and D. J. Bonebrake).  They started rocking.  This is The Bitter End.

And this is Devil Doll.

It was great and loud!  I had fun dancing and enjoying the music that was a part of my college years.  Afterwards we hit up a couple of the bars.  This is Doc’s Bar.

And then we went to The Old Hangout, a tropical themed bar.  I was surprised to see that the Hurricane Cocktail had Swedish punsch in it.

I had to try it, and it was good.  I felt like I could taste the punsch spices.  Tom got a Mai Tai, of course.

Here is the map they gave us of the Temple.  I was able to check out the Atrium but wish we had more time to explore.

We checked out this morning and headed down the Spanish Steps to go home.  It was a fun brief respite for us.
