The grandkids came over on Sunday afternoon to spend a portion of their break with us.  I had purchased a jigsaw puzzle made with a photo of them from the cabin.  Piper completed the puzzle quite quickly.  She is amazing with puzzles.

She then proceeded to do coloring and then playing with my Swedish Chef kit.

Then there was a rousing Monopoly game.

Piper had given me some figurines, most of which were from Red Rose Tea boxes.  They are fun and occupying the space below my computer screen with some other favorites of mine.

Monday morning Piper helped me with the animal chores.  Here she is giving hay to the cows.

She got a lot of hay on her with this.

She then gave water to the critters.

She helped me plant Camas bulbs around Shorty’s grave.

Then Monday afternoon the kids went riding in the back acreage on the quads with Tom.  This is William crashing through the mud puddle.

 

Tom was giving Piper rides in the back of his quad.  Unfortunately she didn’t bring her helmet so he was careful.

 

Then William game Piper rides as well.  She really enjoyed herself.

Then it started dumping rain so they came in.

Then we watched Shaun the Sheep.

We went to Bigfoot’s Den for dinner, a favorite of the kids.  Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling well so Tom got to supervise the gaming upstairs.

Tuesday morning William helped me with the critters.  Here he is hauling hay to the cows.

Later Tom was working on his Evel Knievel motorcycle with some help from William.  It is looking really good.

After dinner I made vanilla ice cream.  Here it is churning.

I also made Peanut Butter Blossom cookies which the kids enjoyed.

Piper chose marshmallows, sprinkles and whipped cream for her ice cream.  Unfortunately the sprinkles were hard and hurt her mouth.

William chose blueberries, chocolate syrup, marshmallows and broken peanut butter cookies for his.

I just used our blueberries.  It was really good.  We enjoyed watch the movie Babe with the ice cream.

This morning I did the chores without much help.  Here are the cows enjoying their hay.

Lunchtime demonstrates the chaos of the dining room table.  In addition to a spot for lunch, it has become an egg incubating and seed starting area.

After lunch it was riding out back.  I went walking out there with the dogs.  With the recent rains, it was even more wet.  The skunk cabbages are starting to come up.

I spotted a frog as well.  I am sure it was happy with all of the moisture.

The quad riders stopped to take a break.  Finally the weather was decent.

Their mother came to pick them up this evening.  The house is a lot less cluttered and noisy.  It’s kind of sad.
