On Friday we headed over the mountains to our Boles Aero trailer. A friend, Denise, had dropped off some homemade cookies before we left. I think this is the prettiest cookie I have ever seen.
It was quite foggy. Saturday I took the dogs on a walk and could barely see our trailer.
My dad, Mo, my brother, and Sue joined us. We were there to celebrate my father’s birthday. The guys built a couple of bonfires as we are still burning debris from the dead trees from the wildfire.
In the evening the fog cleared (it actually went farther down in the valley). We were able to enjoy a sunset, the mountain silhouettes and the present moon.
Here are a couple of photos that Mo took.
On Sunday, it remained foggy, and I walked around with the dogs, enjoying some of the sights. The plants all had ice on them.
It was hard to see Steve in the fog.
There were a lot of deer prints. But there were also a lot of bird prints which I am not used to seeing.
We had a really nice dinner at my father’s motorhome that evening. The party lights in our Boles guided us back.
This morning we had to pack up and go. I admired how the ice is mostly on one side of the pine needles.
The drive home was uneventful. I think the animals are happy to have us home again.
In other news, I am now 8 days without taking any hydrocortisone and am doing OK. It has been almost 4 years on corticosteroids (prednisone and hydrocortisone) and three years trying to wean off. My original physicians did diagnose me with adrenal insufficiency but did not recognize that I was experience steroid withdrawal symptoms. But between the facebook group AIT&R – Adrenal Insufficiency Tapering and Recovery and my second endocrinologist I have been able to slowly wean. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done but feeling really proud of myself in persevering. I still need to carry hydrocortisone with me wherever I go in case I develop an illness or injury that requires stress dosing.
Next is trying to get off of my Remicade infusions, methotrexate and fludrocortisone (a mineralocorticoid). But I am free from the worst of my medications.

Hi, Donna! I really enjoyed reading about your weekend! Thanks for sharing it.
I think the frost freezes in that way, because of the air currents. Its always beautiful, isn’t it? You did have a lot of fog, and just the right amount of snow.
It must have been great to have your family together! It sounded like it was wonderful.
Congratulations on weaning off the meds! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jeanne! I am glad you enjoyed the post. The frozen frost is beautiful. We did have a wonderful time. And thanks for the encouragement about my weaning.
congrats on your progress with weaning off the meds. that must be really hard. It’s so wintery up there at the boles! so glad we don’t have snow and ice down here yet.
Thanks Denise! It is funny that we traveled all that way for worse weather.
Is that your brother in the picture of a guy with a log on his shoulder?
No, that’s my father.
