Grandkids, Skagit Fair and Hay

We picked up the grandkids on Tuesday morning after I got off from work.  William managed to forget his helmet so rather quickly we went helmet shopping, stopping to look at motorcycles, of course.

That task accomplished, Piper and I hung out in the house, coloring, doing puzzles and watching cartoons.  This is while Tom and William went riding around the property.

The kids enjoy a version of twister with our kitchen floor tiles.

Piper is enjoying a cookie, looking at Tom’s compression garment.

That evening we watched the movie Babe while eating ice cream and popcorn.

Wednesday morning Piper helped feed the animals with me.

Then we went to a nearby park on Friday Creek.  It was nice.

Another kid at the park meeting Ryeleigh

Our living and dining room quickly had become covered with kids’ stuff.

That evening we watched the movie Sandlot and ate ice cream.

Yesterday we went to the Skagit County Fair.  Piper got to meet the Princess Belle which she really enjoyed.

The kids then enjoyed the rides.

Then was time for snow cones and checking out the animals.

There was a horse named Piper.

We checked out the railroad exhibit,

the Grange displays,

and a Skagit agricultural presentation.

Then it was time to find the queen bee in the hive.

Then it was time to pet baby animals.

We went to dinner at the Chuck Wagon, which was a big hit with the train running above us.

We were scheduled to get hay delivered this morning so the kids had to leave last evening as we couldn’t put up hay and watch kids at the same time.  This morning the clouds with the smokey air were a little spooky.

But the hay arrives at 6:45.

The sun came up, and we put 5 tons of hay into our hay loft.

It was a lot of work, but Tom and I got it done!  Here is the third to the last 65# bale going up the elevator.

And now our hayloft is full of hay again.  It is a nice feeling knowing that we have this feed for the animals for the winter.

Happy to be done with that, and now it is time to relax!

That was a GREAT blog post. I recognized my friend Dee Anns hand at the beekeeping display. We went to the fair with our grands yesterday before it got crowded. Wow, was it hot!! Making great memories is what it’s all about.

I was at the Skagit County Fair on Thurs as well! manning a booth for the WSU Cooperative Extension. Looks like you all had a nice time. I’m still waiting on my hay, but hopefully that will come together soon 🙂
