Our Week, So Far, Mostly on the Farm.

We got a lot of rain over the weekend, looks like maybe 4 inches.  That is crazy for us.

On Sunday for lunch, I made a Egg-in-a-Nest Sandwich.  We have plenty of eggs, and this was a really fun and easy meal.  It was a double yolk egg that I used.

Sunday evening, I kept binge watching The Bear on Hulu.  This time, Wally joined me.

On Monday I had my rheumatologist appointment in Everett.  I got there a little early so I drove around and found this park with a nice view of the harbor.

Monday evening, Tom and I went to the Lincoln Theatre and saw John Primer and the Real Deal Blues Band.  It was great!

The harmonica player was Steve Bell, and he was amazing!

On Tuesday, I was starting to figure out the source of the feathers in front of the grapes.  I thinks it was from the peafowl.  Here are the peafowl feathers,

and here is one of the mystery feathers.

I am trying to use our fresh produce.  So I made Chez Panisse’s Blueberry Cobbler with the last of the fresh blueberries we have.  It was tasty.

And I made a Cabbage Lasagna as we have a lot of cabbage.  It wasn’t really like lasagna and was pretty wet.  It reminded me of the cabbage rolls my mother made for us as kids.  I still like it.

In more information about the mystery feathers, last evening when trying to put the animals in the barn, a peacock decided he didn’t need to go in.  He eventually was treed.  When he came out of the tree, Ryeleigh was on him. Fortunately we were able to grab her right away and get the peacock in the barn. But here are a couple of feathers he left behind.  Peafowl, when they are attacked, will drop their feathers.

So I think they are his feathers that he dropped when he was startled in the same location, maybe even by the beagle.  Here he is today, minus a few feathers but very much alive.

I decided that we have some tom turkeys.  Here is one of them.

And here are all three together.  Now the question is do I keep one or two of them.  I haven’t had a lot of luck keeping them alive recently, but I think we have a good secure system now as we have not lost anything since early June.  What do you think I should do?

I am incredibly disappointed in that again something is breaking the bean vines near the base.  We are losing a lot of bean plants due to this yet again.  So frustrating.

I did pull up the last of the cabbage remains and gave them to the poultry.  They seem to like them.

That is our week so far.

Very interesting reading! I’m glad you haven’t lost more animals. Your shot of the harbor is very nice.

I’m glad you got to see and hear the music group. I like harmonica music, too.

Yup! Those turkeys do look like guys! Is it too early to put one or two in the freezer for future dinners?

    Take care!

Don’t make a hasty decision on the male turkeys just yet!
Yep , Sherlock , I think you have your answer on the feathers. 🙂
