Back on the farm, after the Boles trip, I am trying to make friends with Roscoe. Tom can pick her up, but she runs away from me. So yesterday I fed her, and this is the closest I have been. We are feeding her under the truck in the back of the donkey pen. She is relatively protected there, and the donkeys can’t get to her food either.
I had taken the Honda car to the Boles as the truck is having transmission issues and my car is awful in the snow. But I got it really dirty on the pass. So Tom cleaned it up before we headed to Seattle.
We went MOHAI in south Lake Union.
I loved seeing the Dog House sign, the clam and the Rainier Beer.
The reason I wanted to go there though was to see the Almost Live Exhibit. Here is a description of many of the participants. I did not realize that Joel McHale was in The Bear!
I did like the Grateful Gourmet shirt with its parachuting slugs.
Plus I enjoyed the Speed Walker costume.
The Almost Live exhibit wasn’t very large so we enjoyed the rest of the museum. We ended up going backwards in time though. We started with the Sonics Championship trophy which is still in Seattle (not Oklahoma).
There was a 1962 World’s fair exhibit. We have 4 of these glasses but not the complete set.
There was a 1950s J.P. Patches show playing on a vintage TV set.
They had Slo-mo-shun IV.
And Boeing’s first plane, the B&W seaplane, which first flew in 1916.
I have long been fascinated by the camouflaging that Boeing did over its production plants in WWII. The upper left photo is the best I have seen of this amazing project.
Another fascination of mine is Hooverville. Here is some great information about it.
Here is a map of the C.C.C. sites, another fascination of mine.
There was a display of canned salmon brands. There are remnants of these salmon canneries all around us still.
This is supposedly the glue pot that caused the great Seattle Fire. I have my doubts.
We then took the beagle on a walk in the area, including amongst expensive yachts for sale.
We then braved the Mercer mess and headed to Bellevue to have dinner with my mom and Al to celebrate his birthday. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos, but we had a wonderful time.
