We are kind of in clean-up and recovery mode. Here’s the refrigerator with the new Piper art on it. A photo of the chalk drawing for Tom needs to be added still.
I worked Sunday. Tom was able to watch the SNL50 special, but I wasn’t. So I watched a recording of it on Monday evening. It was amazing.
I grew up to some extent with SNL. Tom started watching it earlier than I did as he had a TV in his bedroom and knowledge of the show before me. I didn’t find out about it until Trigonometry class in high school when a classmate mentioned it. It is funny what you remember sometimes. Anyway it has been a big part of my life, and it was fun to see some of the previous cast members and remember those that passed.
Today I had my spinning zoom which was cut short by an unexpected power outage. When I then went out to do the animal chores, there was a GBH in a tree in our back yard. This is unusual.
I noticed the robins returning last week and today the doves.
It is so weird because last week was winter, and this week is spring. This is the most extreme transition that I can remember.
Tom was out bring prunings from the orchard to the Skagit Soils. So I was able to make a Pickle Brine Margarita. I have been wanting to make this for a while, but Tom doesn’t like tequila. I have the perfect fermented pickles with brine. It was really good!

Happy belated Gotcha Day, Steve! Was wondering what happened when you dropped off the spinning zoom. Hope you weren’t without power for too long.
Thanks Denise! The power wasn’t out for long. Apparently there was an accident nearby. But it was odd because the crew was already on the pole in front of our place when the power went out. So it must have been something from earlier that needed repairing.
I’ve never watched SNL, so I know very little about it. No problem there! I’m glad you were able to watch the special.
We’ve been having a lot of rain, and the rivers and other streams are all running high and muddy. The weather dudes were saying we could have flooding. That would only involve those who live on the river bank, in our town, but there are some people who live down-stream, where it’s lower, and they may have some flooding. I hope not. They had ice in the Portland area.
We are getting lots of rain too. Our fields started flooding but then receded. There was a flood watch here but not aware of actual river flooding. I didn’t know they had ice in Portland. The freezing rain they get there is no joke. I experienced it when I did my residency there.
