Peace Arch

Today we went up to the Peace Arch Park on the Canadian border in Blaine.  I have driven by, but I have never stopped to check it out.

Here is the plaque on it.

Here is Tom with arms in both countries.

Here’s the Canadian side.

And this is the U.S. side.

Here are the inscriptions inside the arch.

This was a Peace, Love and a Handshake event.  Here is a ukulele group performing in the arch.

This was a Elbows Up rally which was extending across the border from Alaska to Maine celebrating friendship and solidarity between the US and Canada.  This is the banner that was unfurled.

And this is the line of American people ready to shake hands with the Canadians.

It was a really nice event with music and speeches.  I am glad we went.

Here is a photo of the border by the parking lot.

On the way home we picked up some dinner from Holly’s Meat Pies.  Our dinner was really good.

I read this yesterday, but was too tired to write, then. I just went through it again, It’s really nice. I’m glad you and Tom went there. What a good idea to get a picture with Tom having his arms in two countries! Canada is a really great country
