Last Saturday I saw my first snow geese of the year flying overhead. Another reminder that summer is over.
That day after chores, I drove to Seattle. I stopped by my grandmother’s grave (as well as my great grandparents’) and placed some dahlias.
I was going to join my mother for the Bugs Bunny at the Symphony performance at Benaroya Hall. I wasn’t allowed to take photos, but it was truly amazing. I never realized as a kid what an introduction to classical music I was getting watching cartoons.
On Sunday I processed bean and parsnip seeds while watching the Seahawks.
And then I knit while watching the Mariners in the ALCS which we won in Toronto.
Monday I did the chores and enjoyed the sunshine and the tree leaves colors changing.
Then knit more while the Mariners beat Toronto in the second game of the ALCS.
The roosters were getting too aggressive with the hens so I moved some of them to the weasel proof pen to give the hens a break.
On Wednesday I made a drink from the Doctors and Distillers book. It is called Alaska, and it includes yellow Chartreuse. This is hard to find, but I was able to find some in West Seattle and make this drink. It was really good. Chartreuse has interesting flavors. Tom was not a fan, but I was.
That evening Randy Johnson threw out the first pitch for the Mariners game.
Unfortunately they lost even though I had my grandmother’s Mariners seat pad from 1986 out. Sorry gramma.
They lost again Thursday while I was at work, but then on Friday I picked up my new T-shirt from the post office for game 5 of the ALCS.
And they won! I am sure it was the shirt.
This morning I got up early to do the chores. The sunrise was quite pretty but not a good omen for the weather.
The birds are enjoying the apple pressings and squash.
We went to see William play football in Blaine. Here he is on the sidelines.
Here are the cheerleaders.
And here he is playing defense on the far right.
And the team photo. This will be his last game of the year as they are out of town for the final game next week.
Here he is having a post game breakfast of waffles. He made impressive work of it. This was at Monte’s Just A Bite Cafe in Blaine. They have great breakfast.
Then we headed to Bellingham, stopping to walk the beagle.
Then we went to the No Kings protest in Bellingham. There was a handmaid at the entrance.
Here’s parts of the crowd inside.
There were giant puppets there. This is one of them that walked right by us.
There were inflatables also.
Santa was there too!
And a frog!
There was a dance afterwards. It’s hard to hear because of the talking, but they played “I’m Too Sexy” which I hadn’t heard in many years.
Here is Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up” song which matched Tom’s protest sign.
There was a polar bear dancing.
And a unicorn.
There were three men who were disruptive to the gathering but were neutralized, one being arrested by Bellingham police. Apart from these jerks, it was a peaceful protest in the rain. I am glad we were able to go.

That was quite a day! I enjoyed reading it all!
Glad you enjoyed it.
