Sunday was William’s 11th birthday. It was relatively low-key. We had a nice gathering at his home and then went rollerskating. Here is William and Tom on the rink.
We continue to feed apples and pressings to the animals. They are liking them still. Here are the dogs watching Diddley nibble on them.
Unfortunately Diddley ended up choking on them. I had to put an esophageal tube down to clear the blockage. He seems fine now. This is just after I put the tube in.
I pulled the fermenting cabbage out of the crocks and put them in jars. When I have some refrigerator space, they will go in there. This is my first time fermenting red cabbage. I am curious. I did save a jar of the liquid in case it is useful for dyeing.

I’m glad you were able to help Diddley, when he choked on the “goodies” you gave him. It would’ve been terrible if he hadn’t had your help!
I’ll be interested to know if the red cabbage turns out well. It’d beautiful in the jars! I hope the “juice” does make a nice dye. Let us know when you try it…
I am too. I felt so bad for him and it was my fault. He continues to be just fine and now there are no more pressings. I will let you know about the red sauerkraut and if it makes good dye. I will need to do some research first.
